Antak -A Look into a Criminal’s Mind - Meenu MinochaANTAK, the protagonist, a juvenile rapist, is presented as a totally closed character who, like all criminals, doesn’t feel he is doing anything wrong. He is a law unto himself and isn’t fazed even on being caught red-handed.
MRINALINI is depicted as a social activist who has made it her life purpose to analyse the psyche of the human mind. The arrest of the delinquent rouses in her a keenness to understand the force driving such people into committing inhuman acts on others. With the help of SHAUN RAJAUR, a dedicated police officer, she performs regression sessions on the protagonist to explore the causes instigating him on. So unfolds a story of the interconnectedness of lifetimes and the journey of the soul through them all. |
The whole story is presented through a series of interactions where Mrinalini takes the boy Antak into his subconscious mind and slowly glimpses of his activities surface, both of this life and of past lives. In the process, the role of the Law of Karma gets highlighted as a cause and effect theory and also the deep importance of the forces shaping a person’s personality in the here and now. The methodology of conducting regression sessions is the backbone of the story and investigates the feasibility of resolving a number of issues that plague society through such healing sessions.
Another dimension added to the story is that of soul mates and how they support each other on a progressive voyage towards the aim of all life forms-amalgamation with The Divine. The story also brings out the tremendous possibility inherent in a simple action of acceptance, also distinguishing it from resignation. The story ends with the hanging of the criminal, yet portraying a dynamic continuance of life. About the bookThe safety of our daughters is a matter of prime concern for all of us and the rising number of violations a nightmare! Society likes to make out the victims to be more of culprits, blaming them for enticing. Why doesn't it try to figure out the psyche of the perpetrator? Why can't we figure out a way to make life more secure? The idea of this story was inspired by the brutality faced by the couple on 16th December 2012, a case which made headlines. The tendency towards violence cannot be instantaneous, it is also literally nurtured in a person's character. Can the right concepts not be instilled and nurtured then?
Can we not teach our children, both boys and girls, the value of dignity and morality? I for one, believe that this world is a beautiful place to live in and can be peopled with beautiful beings. All we need to do is to conceptualize and install the right software! After all, it's not just one lifetime, but lifetimes which are at stake. |
Author : Meenu MinochaLife invariably throws tantrums at times and we have to soothe it like an unruly child. Getting it back onto an even keel does become a seemingly impossible task but healing modalities come in handy then. That's what encouraged the author, Meenu Minocha to hone her skills holistically, and utilise them to uplift not only her own life but that of others as well. She now practices more of healing through regression in between dabbling in writing and teaching. Though this is her maiden venture into the world of writing, she has done numerous translation works earlier, the most prominent being Mahesh Manzar's 'Manzar Dar Manzar - The Essence of my Spirit', a book of Hindi Urdu poetry and 'A Heap of Rubbish', the autobiography of Ajeet Cour, a Punjabi- Hindi author.
